Send Us Your Morning Face! – Last Chance Today! (Update #3)

by Shawn Thornton on February 2, 2010

(see my morning faces at bottom of posting – pick the best)

We are asking for your help with a video for our upcoming weekend service!
The video will illustrate the concept of “doing”.

The biblical writer James uses a mirror metaphor in James chapter 1 verses 22-25. We are told that for us to see what the Bible says we need to change about our lives and to do nothing is like a person who gets up in the morning glances in the mirror and does nothing.

We don’t just hop out of bed and go about our day, it takes preparation – it takes action.
The same is true in our spiritual lives.

So we are asking you to send us your best photo of your fresh out of bed – morning look – you know, that morning face.

The key here is how you look WITHOUT preparation – before you look in a mirror.
It will appear something like this:

We will put them together much like this, so your photo will not be on screen alone, or for a really long time.
The more photos we get, obviously the better the illustration. Come on guys, come on ladies, let’s snap some head shots that are fresh out of bed!

All ages are welcome, kids have some of the best “bed-head” ever!

Please email your photo to:
MorningFace@calvarycc.org

We are looking to have them by Friday, February 5th. We need hundreds! Tell your friends to join us in this “Reality Project.”
Looking forward to it, Thanks!

So here is my morning face from Tuesday (not so happy a look), here is my morning face from Wednesday (at least a smile), here is my morning face from Thursday (look ma no glasses), and here is my morning face from today (with gray, t-shirt) – post a comment about which is best to use for our video:

Pastor; You’re great!! And brave too!! I don’t have enough bravery in my whole body (or confidence) to share how I look in the morning!

Betty February 3, 2010 at 6:20 pm

Neither. Third time is charm. Give us another day’s look.

I’ll pick red shirt day. Just emailed ours. They are pretty funny, too. Have fun with the project! (Come on, BJ, you can do it!)

Red shirt! You look like an infant who just passed gas and has happy smile on his face!

Patricia February 4, 2010 at 1:46 pm

How brave and confident you are. Must be who you are in Christ that humbled you to put up those pics. I pick the pic w/o the glasses. Most people do not wake up with glasses on. My biggest fear (I know, I should not fear) is that my family will say “you look the same mornin, noon and night!!! You are awesome!!

Sarah (my 9 yr old) saw these pics and commented, “Wow, I really appreciate the effort Pastor Shawn makes every day to not look like that.” Classic! :)

I like the face with your red shirt on. hahahahah! Bless your heart Pastor Shawn!

I certainly would vote for “door number three.” Like it the best. Really don’t think it looks like an infant who just passed gas! Loved that comment. Half smile looks a little fake but picture three has my vote.

Definitely the photo without the glasses…I’ve often fallen asleep with my glasses on, but never wake up with them!

I love the one with the green shirt and cool glasses. You look very grumpy in that picture, funny.

Jackie Howell February 5, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Oh, yeah — the red t-shirt without glasses. Definitely – it says “morning” all over it!

Niki February 5, 2010 at 3:30 pm

I like “redshirt”, too. You are a good sport…I tried to do it this morning. I confess…I never realized that I was THAT vain… just COULDN’T do it!

I think it’s a wonderful idea. When I watched the video you posted in your blog it really left an impression with me. If I made a video like that one of myself I would be faced with all the changes I’ve made in my life during that time and it would definitely make me feel even more accountable to God. That’s just the overall feeling I got. It gave me goosebumps watching it.
