Right now there is a group of people from Calvary and a few other churches on a short term trip to Uganda. Here is the update their coordinator, Jordan Lee, sent today. While our focus has correctly been on the acute needs of Haiti right now, others continue to need the love of Jesus shared with and shown to them. This team is doing that currently now in Uganda. As you pray for the relief efforts in Haiti, pray for the Uganda team and this vital ministry. Links to how you can help with Haiti relief are in my previous blog posting below this one.

friends,
blessings from uganda. yesterday we worked until 9 at night at god cares school in order to treat everyone who came in need of care. this just about killed us but we treated upwards of 80 people. it was incredible.
today was day 3 of working. we started a new clinic in a new village named kowimpe. each day we are getting better at our system. we were able to buy more medications than would fit in the jeep and distribute them to those in need. we did four hiv tests and thank god all four were negative.
we treated a 12 yr old girl w/typhoid fever. she came in w/fever of 104+, crying & vomiting..after IV fluids, Injection antibiotic, Tylenol & much love, she left with a smile, meds & is coming back tomorrow to make sure she’s okay.
also, a few of us ran into some witch doctors and their shrines. it was pretty creepy.
each day i am astounded by the hard work and talent of my team. and each day i am astounded by the need that i see and we can not completely meet.
TRYING TO GIVE MEDICAL AID IN EAST AFRICA IS LIKE STANDING IN FRONT OF A FOREST FIRE WITH A SQUIRT GUN.
the need is overwhelming. everyday almost 100 people show up in need of treatment and we are only able to treat about 40 of them. as the team leader, i’m the one who has to explain to the other 60 why they can not be seen that day. i find myself running into the problem of always wanting to take in one more. but there is always going to be one more and i’m not doing the most good for the most people by burning my team out. this project has shown the horrible dilemmas and choices that a leader has to make. this is something i am quite accustomed to, but it never gets any easier.
we are doing great work here. lives are being touched and changed. but there is such a huge need that i find myself waking every night, my mind racing with ways to improve our system so we can treat more the next day.
we so greatly appreciate all your prayers, as we have seen them working. i ask that you please continue, especially for wisdom for the tough decisions i have to make.
