Our response as a church family to the need in Haiti:
PRAY
1. Allow God to bend your heart and pray for the immediate needs of those who are suffering or have lost loved ones.
2. Pray for the rescue efforts and the strength and security of those workers.
3. Ask The Lord to meet people in their time of need, for many to come to Jesus as Savior and draw still others into deeper relationship with Him.
GIVE
1. We will be taking an offering in Calvary’s worship services this Sunday (January, 17th) for the relief work in Haiti. Calvary will be sending relief and rebuilding teams and necessary supplies over the coming weeks and months. You can make checks payable to Calvary Community Church with “Haiti Relief” in the memo.
2. Pastor Shawn’s Blog contains links for giving to Christian organizations who are on the ground in Haiti and doing a good job in immediate relief efforts (pastorshawn.com).
3. Calvary’s children’s ministries have worked with Bill Manassero and the Maison de Lumiere orphanage in Port au Prince for more than 3 years. Their organization, Child Hope International is doing on-site medical care and relief work and donations are going directly to that work. Click here to give to their efforts.
4. Medical and other supplies can be donated at Calvary’s Mission Counter. Storage space for the donated items will also needed. Here is a current list of needed items: Basic Drugs (Aspirin, Tylenol, etc.), Antibiotics, Water filtration tablets, Water Filtration systems, MRE’s (Ready Meals), Protein Bars, Dried Fruits, Anti-bacterial Wipes, Hand Sanitizer, Water, Tents, Storage pace for supplies coming in, & other medical supplies.
GO
1. Teams will be going out from Calvary in the coming year to assist in the relief and recovery efforts. Please let us know if you would like to support those who are going, help organize teams and logistics, or if you would be willing to travel and help in some way. The people most needed in the first few months are security and medical personnel, counselors, French speakers, contractors, and other workers.
