A traditional Bible organizes the 66 books it contains according to content or writing style. A Chronological Bible gives the reader a better understanding of the order of biblical events and the historical context in which they unfolded. It arranges the entire Bible text—books, chapters, and even verses—in the order the events actually happened.

Prophetic books are interwoven with the historical accounts they accompanied. Psalms follow the events about which they were written. Proverbs are placed in the time frame in which they were compiled. The life of Christ is woven into one moving story. And Paul’s letters to the young churches in the first century are integrated into the book of Acts.

I personally plan to work my way through the Bible chronologically in 2010. It has been several years since I have done this, so I look forward to it. I would love for you to join me. Wouldn’t it be great if several hundred of us got a fresh perspective of the story of God! Give it a try!

Discover the Bible as the extraordinary epic it is! As the unique, chronological presentation of God’s story unfolds before you daily, you’ll begin to appreciate God’s plan for your life like never before as reading the Bible becomes a fresh, inviting, more transformative experience.

As 2010 gets started this Friday, let’s join together in reading God’s story a little bit each day and see how His spirit changes us!

Thanks for the link you provided in the Church Bulletin – http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/readingplans/

It was nice to import the Chronological Bible reading plan into my Yahoo Calendar, and the links to the online Bible version make it easy to pull up & read the appropriate chapters.

I hope I get the strength to see it thru – I have never read the Bible in a year, let alone chronologically.

Right on! There is so much junk out there that misleads people when it comes to trials and tribulations and what they’re all about. Thanks, Joni, for the impact that you’ve had in my life.
