“Jesus Paid It All” Lyrics

by Shawn Thornton on July 28, 2010

Today’s Take5 study that was included in last Sunday’s bulletin suggests that we read the lyrics of this great hymn of the faith. So, here they are:

Jesus Paid It All Lyrics:

I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”

Refrain
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim,
I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.

Refrain

And now complete in Him
My robe His righteousness,
Close sheltered ‘neath His side,
I am divinely blest.

Refrain

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.

Refrain

When from my dying bed
My ransomed soul shall rise,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
Shall rend the vaulted skies.

Refrain

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
I’ll lay my trophies down
All down at Jesus’ feet.

When You Feel Like God Can’t Use You…

by Shawn Thornton on July 18, 2010

I used this to conclude my message today from Judges chapter 3 – “Don’t Underestimate the Underdog.” I took it from my files and had lost the source. So, I don’t know who put this list together.
If you know the source, let me know and I will add it to this posting.

The next time you feel like GOD can’t use you,
just remember…

Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Sampson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer…
AND
Lazarus was dead!

What do you have that’s worse than that?
So no more excuses!

Today as we explored the Prodigal Son’s slow fade from home, we talked about how “moral failure rarely comes from one sudden choice, it almost always is the result of a slow fade.” We concluded with the song “Slow Fade” by casting crowns. The song was used in the movie “Fireproof.” Here is a video [...]

Frustrated by Who is in Control

May 22, 2010

Lesli’s grandparents, Madge and Carl Russell, had one of the large floor model TV’s that became so prominent in the 1970’s. When they were well into their eighties, it was fun to watch the two of them battle for control of the TV remote. They were cute and funny about it. Carl’s weakness was that [...]
